Qi Zhang was born in Xiamen, Fujian, China, in 1957. She received the B.S. degree in Physics from Xiamen Unversity, Xiamen, China in 1982 and the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Regina, Regina, Canada, in 1992.
From 1982 to 1985, she was an Assistant Engineer, and from 1986 to 1989 an Electrical Engineer in Nanjing Electronics Devices Institute, Nanjing, China, where she was involved in III-V seminconductor material research and microwave semiconductor devices measurement techniques. Since September 1992, she has been working as a Teaching Assistant and is also a full-time graduate student working towards her Ph.D. in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, at the University of Victoria, Victoria, B.C., Canada. Her research interests include numerical techniques for propagation and scattering of electromagnetic fields and waves.
