Conclusion by the Workshop Directors

All participants were unanimous in declaring that this Workshop has been successful. Not only were the papers of high quality and of great interest to all participants, but the size of the group greatly facilitated personal contact, exchange and discussion. The facilities provided by the University of Victoria were excellent, and the organizing committee did outstanding work. Ms. Sherry Cole deserves a special word of recognition for the splendid way in which she handled all the innumerable organizational details in her role as Executive Workshop Secretary.

We are grateful first to all Workshop participants, spontaneous and invited, for their willingness to share their knowledge and expertise with others. UVic's administration, and in particular Dr. James W. Provan, Dean of Engineering, and Dr. S.S. Stuchly, Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering, have supported and encouraged us without fail. The IEEE Microwave Theory and Technique Society has given us staunch professional endorsement by co-operatively sponsoring this event. However, without the financial contributions from the Governments of Canada, France and Germany, and from the Advanced Systems Institute of British Columbia, this Workshop could not have taken place. We are very much indebted to them for their generous support.

Given the positive outcome of this First International Workshop on TLM, it was generally felt that a second Workshop of this kind should be held again in two years, possibly in Europe.
